Abstract
The objective of this study was to examine the
association between β-hydroxybutyrate (BHBA) and glucose, cobalt (Co), copper
(Cu), manganese (Mn), magnesium (Mg), and phosphorus (P) in cows with clinical
ketosis and control group. At the beginning; while serum glucose levels, Co, Cu,
Mn, Mg and P concentrations in cows with clinical ketosis were lower, BHBA
levels were higher than control group. At the 3rd day after the
treatment, serum Co, Cu, Mn and P concentrations were lower in cows with
clinical ketosis than control group. According to these results, mineral level
decrease was detected in cows with ketosis. It is thought that there should be
more study performed about the contribution of minerals to the treatment of
ketosis. This study will provide an insight to the studies will be performed in
this respect.
